Diegueno Country School storyboards

diegueno Diegueno Country School storyboards

You’ve probably all looked at the beautiful images of your children by now! Something we have never offered before for Diegueno is our storyboards. This year’s indoor and outdoor portraits lend themselves so well to this idea, we wanted you to have a chance to order your children’s portraits in a unique way.

The storyboard on the top is a 16×16 mounted print, and will be set up just as you see here. One large image and three smaller ones. The background and borders will also be green, as shown.

The 10×20 storyboard below features 3 – 5×7 images, and your child’s name will appear above the left image. The 2009 date was picked for the year they end their current grade.

We have reduced the price on these storyboards by more than half by offering these two templates for you – each will be exactly as you see. To order, simply select any image and order the storyboard, and order. Then  send us an e mail at schools@keanestudios.com. In the e mail, tell us these things:

1) The storyboard you want.

2) The image numbers you want. We’ll use our judgment on layout for you.

3) If you’re ordering the 16×16, tell us which image should be large. If you don’t, we’ll use our judgment.

These are some of our most popular items, and we’re delighted to be able to offer them to you!

A far cry from the Flower Fields!

After we finished our seminar in Asheville, Mary and I headed to Charleston, SC, for a couple of exploring days. We arrived at Middleton Place, an ante bellum plantation just outside Charleston, just an hour before dusk. By the time we left, we were the only ones left on hundreds of acres and the sun was setting. The local wildlife was coming alive!

Mary wondered why there was a heron looking intently at two bumps in Butterfly Lake. The bumps were hoping that tasty bird would get closer. No, we wouldn’t see the sites below in the Flower Fields!

Yes, that is an alligator, and no it was not a telephoto and, no, there was – gulp – no fence. We were a little nervous those herons would become dinner.

Mary got to give Bert & Ernie, the draft horses, a big hug.

After learning there was limited gas in Atlanta, and an eight hour drive to our flight in Nashville, we decided to stay in Atlanta. We’ll see you all Thursday instead!

The Keanes go blogging in Asheville, North Carolina!

Mary and I are visiting Asheville, North Carolina this week, attending a seminar on blogging presented at the studio of our friend Marilyn Sholin, and moderated by Chris Price, who designed our new web site theme. I’ve written a few posts before, but now I actually know a few secrets about improving our blogging. Stay tuned – we’ll be posting very often now.

Family Portraits for Canyon Crest Academy & Torrey Pines High School

Have you ordered school portraits for your student in grades 9-11 at CCA or Torrey Pines? There’s an extra bonus! You may have seen in the price list that family portraits at the studio (inside or our courtyard) or Windansea Beach in La Jolla are available for $49 and $79 respectively. There are a few examples below. Sessions are available between now and October 31, and you will be able to order prints and packages at our greatly reduced senior prices.

To arrange for your session, simply e mail schools@keanestudios.com, with the message line Family Portraits. In the e mail, just let us know how many are in your family, what names and ages are the children, and whether you would prefer the studio, courtyard or Windansea Beach.

Also, let us know if there are particular days of the week or times of the day that work better for you than others. Windansea portraits are created within the last two hours before sunset, or before 9:00 am in the morning.

Finally, let us know the best number and most convenient time for us to contact you.

Best dressed at CCA and TP…

We announced that Keane Studios would be posting the portraits of a few 9-11th graders photographed last week at CCA and Torrey Pines. These were picked on the basis of how well these students dressed, based on the instructions in our last e mail blast!

For the attention they paid to what we asked (or maybe you were just lucky!) everyone pictured here will receive a 10×10 popart print like the one above. If one of these students is you, just send us an e mail to info@keanestudios before midnight, Wednesday August 20, to claim your prize! If you know one of these students, tell them to check it out!

Keep posted here at our blog in the next few days to learn more about how to VIEW YOUR IMAGES AFTER LABOR DAY, packages available, and other important ordering information.

See our display at Strasburg Children Carlsbad

We just placed a new portrait display at Strasburg Children in the Carlsbad Co. Stores. Strasburg is the home of some of the most elegant children’s clothing in the country, and we are pleased to have a great relationship with them. See Cathy, the manager there. She’ll tell you about our photographing her now teen-age daughter with bunnies years ago. Now, among other things, we photograph the bunnies at her store in the spring.

Here’s one of the portraits of beautiful Sophie that’s now on display. She and her mom are clients of both clients are Keane Studios and Strasburg. The other features Sophie wearing Strasburg clothing in our courtyard.

Our construction site…

Since our last post, nothing has really changed as far as how you enter the building. Please continue to enter from the rear or the north side entrance. If you’re coming for an appointment these days, it’s best to allow a few extra minutes if you’ve not visited us in the last few weeks. See our previous post for some pictures.

We’re told by the building management that there have been some delays in delivering key items for the lobby, and that things should be back to normal in the next two weeks.

Thanks for your patience… we know ours is running a little thin.

Planning your senior session for the beach?

Most of our beach sessions for seniors as well as families are created at Windansea Beach in La Jolla. If you’re planning a senior session at the beach, here are a few ideas and tips…

adleralissa210print2 Planning your senior session for the beach?   gomezdelia314print1 Planning your senior session for the beach?   09 Planning your senior session for the beach?

* The weather at the beach creates very different backgrounds. Sometimes, there will be beautiful sunsets, other times fog or bright sun. We’ll always pick the best spots and backgrounds to enhance that day’s feeling.

* Late in the afternoon, you can bring your dog to the beach as a buddy. If you plan to do so, please be sure to let us know!

* Would you like to wear a swimsuit, or your prom dress, or any other change? Windansea is a surfer’s beach, and it lacks amenities! Such as a restroom or a place to change. Plan to layer your clothes, and remember – sometimes waves come in even when you don’t WANT to be wading in the surf. If you want to avoid getting wet, we’ll work a lot further away from the water.

If you have some special idea of what you’d like to do, let your photographer know. If you’d like them to be creative with their own ideas, that’s good, too. Let’s make this a fun experience for all of us!

Ms. Abigail Skale, suitably attired for shopping

abby1 Ms. Abigail Skale, suitably attired for shopping

It was recently our pleasure to have Ms. Abigail Skale of Poway stop by Keane Studios while on a shopping expedition with her mum and baby sister. We were delighted to have Ms. Skale, and her long time companion Mr. Sponge Bob, visit the studio while sister Annabelle was being photographed. It is rumored that Abby, as she is known to a select few, was on her way to shop for an outfit suitable for her fourth birthday portrait sitting. Older brother Alex was not immediately available for comment.

Our building is being remodeled!

If you’ve come to our studio before, you’ll remember you went up the front steps and you were on our floor. The front lobby, as well as the restrooms on our floor, are going to be under remodeling through at least the first week of August.

Finding the building and getting to our suite is going to be a little trickier this summer, so here are some pictures that should help.

Once inside, you can go up the interior stairway just inside to the left, and you’ll be right at our front door on the second floor.
