We recently had a business transaction with a family who does not speak English at all. We did not want them to misunderstand what we were saying so we started a search to find someone to translate. The first job, we learned, was to know something about the etymology of Asian names. Did you know that Lee is one of the most common surnames in the world? And that not only Chinese and Scottish families have made it that way, but also Korean. Boy do we wish we’d known.
In an attempt to be nice, we discovered that our Lee family was Korean, not Chinese, and that the Chinese translation we almost sent was probably a bad idea. Thank heaven we happened upon http://www.certifiedchinesetranslation.com/ and a gentleman by the name of Samuel Chong, who not only helped us with the Chinese translation, but then turned around and arranged for the Korean version, too.
In this global economy, there is so much to learn.
One of the best ways to present your Flower Fields portraits is a Gallery Wrap Canvas. The portrait is printed to canvas, but rather than framing it, we wrap the canvas around the edge of the stretcher bars. With Flower Fields portraits, this is especially effective because a softened image of the flowers is used to complete the edge. These two portraits in our hallway are perfect examples!
One of the wonderful things that I get to experience as a photographer is sharing life’s greatest moments.
Drew Keilen and his now fiancee Gina flew over from Arizona Friday afternoon. Drew had contacted the studio earlier that week to arrange a surprise for Gina she will never forget. He had received special permission to “sneak” into the Fields, where I was just photographing close-ups of flowers… until Drew dropped to his knee and we caught the action as it happened. Does it look like Gina said yes?
New for the Flower Fields, and continuing into all our product lines, is our Impressionist Canvas. As the name implies, the look goes beyond the photograph and creates an Impressionistic art interpretation, which is then stretched to a gallery wrap. Each canvas is a completely individual rendition of your portrait created by Mary Keane.
Good morning, everybody! I’m Snowflake. All these cute girls came to visit me yesterday and today. I even got to play with those two who are showing off my buddies the chicks. My friends and I will be here at Keane Studios, and then at at Pacific Athletic Club, between now and Monday. Hope to see you soon!
I’m Cozy the bunny. Me and my three friends came to Keane Studios a couple of days ago. It seemed like a pretty quiet place – a few folks saying how cute we were, but pretty lay back. Whoa! Were we wrong.
Saturday morning the kids started visiting us and things really changed. Caleb and his brother Nathan were here, and so were about 20 other kids. We bunnies and chicks had a good time playing with all of them. Are you going to come visit us soon?
The bunnies have arrived at Keane Studios, and they are about the cutest we’ve ever seen. Cozy, Jamie, Snowflake and Velvet are snuggled in for the night next to their friends the chicks, ready for tomorrow morning’s start of the adventure! Come back here every day to see what they’re up to next!
