Senior Style Guide
Clothes
- Please bring a variety of outfits that fit you well, including a classic outfit in medium to dark tones for your traditional/yearbook pose.
- Clothing that is too tight or too loose will not hang properly and may have too many folds or creases.
- Avoid clothing with words, logos, stripes and loud patterns as they distract from your face and expression.
- Dress from head to toe; many poses will include your feet. Bring accessories, jewelry, hats, belts and scarves.
- Also, make sure your undergarments (unwanted straps, etc.) are not showing.
- Please also note that tan lines and sunburns cannot be fixed without expensive artwork.
Hair
- Wear your hair the way you like it best. Your senior portrait is not the best time to try a new style!
- If you plan to have a haircut, try to schedule it at least a week before the session in case you don’t care for the results.
- Also, a fresh haircut may reveal untanned skin during the summer.
- Guys, come in with a fresh shave. Five o’clock shadows cannot be retouched.
- Very light hairspray will tame loose ends that may catch light and show in a picture.
Make-Up
We recommend that you wear your make-up no heavier than you normally would for an evening out. Even if you don’t normally wear make-up, we recommend a light foundation and powder to reduce shine and even your skin tone.
Hands
Trim, file and remove old nail polish from your nails. Lotion prevents your skin from looking ashy and dry.
Glasses
Speak to your optometrist about borrowing an empty pair of frames in your style.
Props
We can work with anything. Posters, uniforms, awards, collections, cars, instruments, sports equipment, hats and more.
Pets
Let us know in advance if you’re bringing in a pet for your buddy session, and please bring along a friend or parent to care for your pet as you’ll be very busy during your session. If possible, the pet should remain in a carrier when it’s not involved in the shoot.
Your Input
Look at your favorite CD covers and magazines for ideas and bring them along with you. We’re open to any suggestion!
